Who is Cindi?
A lifelong Hoosier.
Cindi Clayton is a 30-year Evansville resident who was raised in a union household, educated in public schools, and shaped by Southern Indiana values of hard work and community. A USI graduate with degrees in Psychology and Communication, Cindi brings 25 years of HR experience and a decade of teaching to the ballot. With a passion for serving her neighbors, Cindi is ready to fight for working families and move Indiana forward.

Cindi is a proud supporter of Holly’s House, a children’s and adult advocacy center in Evansville. Cindi and her husband Kenny, pictured here, attended the Brian Turpin Service Awards in October 2024.

Public education is the cornerstone of our communities. Funding public schools is a top agenda item for Cindi.

Fighting for Our Community
These are some of the top priorities our campaign is focused on.

Hoosiers deserve the freedom to make personal decisions without having the government interfere. Indiana Republicans have consistently attacked reproductive rights, gender-affirming care, and bodily autonomy. Cindi thinks this is wrong, and vows to keep the government away from everyone’s bodies.

Every child in Indiana deserves to have access to a high-quality public education. However, Indiana Republicans seem intent on draining funds from public schools to fund private school vouchers. Through restoring income limits on school vouchers, we can ensure that taxpayer dollars support the families who truly need them the most.

Our rural communities have been lagging behind for far too long. Cindi wants to use modern technology to bring new opportunities to rural communities and support union labor to create good paying jobs. This way, we can build stronger local economies and attract new opportunities.

District 49, located in beautiful Southwest Indiana, encompasses all of Posey County and parts of Gibson and Vanderburgh counties. District 49 includes communities such as Evansville, Mount Vernon, New Harmony, Poseyville, Darmstadt, and Fort Branch, with a population of ~130,000 residents.
